’Quake hits N.I.

PA Wellington A strong earthquake rocked much of the central and eastern North Island on Monday. The seismological observatory in Wellington said the 10.37 a.m. tremor measured about 6.5 on the Richter scale and was centred about 250 km north of Whakatane. The observatory said small aftershocks were felt.
