Dev set to return
NZPA-Reuter New Delhi India’s top two cricketers have met the country’s top cricket official twice to heal a breach and enable one of them, the all-rounder, Kapil Dev, to be reinstated in the national side, the Press Trust of India said yesterday. It said Dev and his captain, Sunil Gavaskar held talks in the central city of Nagpur with N. K;,P. Salve, the president of the (Board of Control for Cricket, who is also Minister for Steel and Mines.
India’s five test selectors are due to meet Salve in Nagpur. Press reports said they might reverse their decision to drop Dev for the third test with England, starting in Calcutta oh December 31. Dev, who made 66 consecutive test appearances, was dropped after India crashed to an unexpected eight-wicket defeat against England in the second test at Delhi last week. quoted Salve as denying press reports there had beentji row between Dev and Gavaskar.
