Canty man appointed
Wellington reporter A Canterbury manufacturer, Mr J. D. Bull, is one of two new appointments to the Industries Development Commission. The other appointment, announced by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Caygill, is Mr R. G. Trott, an Auckland legal and industrial consultant. Mr Caygill said that Mr Bull had been prominent in Canterbury manufacturing for many years and, until he retired, was director and
general manager of Associated British Cables, Ltd, in Christchurch. He is an immediate past-president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association and has been a member of the Manufacturers’ Federation Council. Mr Trott has been a legal adviser to the Federation of Labour and a delegate to the International Labour Organisation. “Both Mr Bull and. Mr Trott will bring to the work of the commission a wealth
of experience in manufacturing and industrial relations,” Mr Caygill said. “We are entering a period of marked economic change which will have considerable impact on manufacturing industry and its workforce. The new appointments will, in my view, strengthen the commission at a time when its services will be most valuable to the Government,” said Mr Caygill. The appointments will take effect from the beginning of 1985.
