Motor rally on
NZPA-Reuter Paris Algeria yesterday gave the go-ahead for the ParisDakar motor rally to cross its territory and the event will begin next Sunday. After the prologue at Cergy-Pontoise, near Paris, the separate races between
cars, trucks and motorcycles will begin in earnest from Algiers on January 3. Competitors face a 14,000 km haul across the Sahara through Algeria, Niger, Mali and Mauritania before arriving in Senegal. It is the seventh time the event has been held.
