Mr Kirk denies allegation

PA Wellington A former Federation of Labour economist, Mr Alf Kirk, denies allegations that he sold information gained in his capacity as a member of the Prime Minister’s ad-

visory group. The Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Mr Bolger, said in Parliament last week that Mr Kirk, working only part-time for the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, and holding another job as a private consultant, “gets the inside information and then sells it outside.”

Mr Kirk was also criticised by Sir Robert Muldoon. Mr Kirk said that all members of the Prime Minister’s advisory group knew that they had to abide by the rules relating to conflict

of interest. “That applies to me no less than anybody else. You cannot be in a situation of giving out information learnt in the job. “I have not done that and I have made that point very clear to those I work for and it is understood by those people,” Mr Kirk said.
