Mark Small, of Lancaster Park, returned the outstanding figures of four wickets for four runs to help his team to an easy victory over Christchurch Working Men’s Club in the second round of “The Press” twilight cricket competition on Monday evening. Christchurch W.M.C. could only muster 33 in reply to Lancaster Park’s total of 110. For his efforts, Small was awarded the Lion Breweries “Player of the Week” award. East Shirley, attempting to win the competition for the fourth time in five years, scored plenty of bonus points when it amassed 181 in its encounter with Port Hills, then dismissed the opposition for only 60. St Albans added to its bonus tally when it scored 182 against Southern Districts. In the next round on Monday, East-Shirley and St Albans, the two leading sides, will clash.
