Script job nearly over
PA Wellington The long job of processing requests for the return of 1983 School Certificate examination scripts is almost over for the Education Department, just as the 1984 examinations start. More than 9400 requests were sent to the department after it announced in August that it would return the scripts. The demand was so steady that a special office was set up to cope with it. The department’s director of administration, Mr Brian
Richards, said he expected the processing of the scripts to be finished by the weekend. The special office will close. Mr Richards said discussions were already under way as to what would be done next year. “They will definitely be getting their scripts back, but at the moment we are tackling the problem of how we will do it,” he said. The department decided to release the scripts at the recommendation of the Ombudsman.
