Lace shawl

The prize-winning lace shawl, described by Mrs Myrtle Duff in her Collecting column on the lace exhibition at the Canterbury Museum, was made by Mrs Doreen Fraser of Christchurch. The lace making took about 700 hours, while spinning of the Merino wool for the shawl took Mrs Margaret Stove about 40 hours. The shawl won the New Zealand Wool Board Trophy at the New Zealand Spinning and Weaving Woolcraft Society’s festival in Queenstown.
