BNZ savings

The general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Mr William Shaw, says small savers have deposited more than S2M extra a week with the BNZ savings bank since October 1 when it began paying 10 per cent interest on passbook savings accounts. BNZ is the only private savings bank which has taken advantage of amended Government regulations which enable banks to offer interest above 3 per cent on passbook accounts.
