PA Wellington Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, announced yesterday that it now held 92.83 per cent of Smith and Smith, Ltd, as a result of its October 22 take-over offer. Southbury Investment, Ltd, of Timaru, yesterday received permission from the Examiner of Commercial Practices to acquire up to 40 per cent of the capital in Brother Distributors, Ltd, the Christchurch business and industrial machines wholesaler. A principal in Southbury, Mr A. J. Hubbard, said that the company had held shares in Brother for 15 years, and that at the moment it held about 20 per cent of the capital. The approval did not mean that the Southbury would be seeking 40 per cent, he said.
