Cannabis grower jailed
PA Auckland A “keen gardener” who grew cannabis at his home and sold it to his friends has been jailed for 12 months. Rodger Michael McCaw, aged 26, a builder’s labourer, of Mount Roskill, appeared for sentence before Judge Kerr in the District Court at Auckland after admitting cultivating cannabis, possession for supply, and possessing cannabis seeds. Counsel, Mr Geoffrey Joyce, said that McCaw was a keen gardener and found cannabis relatively easy to grow. He sold it exclusively to his friends and used the money to support himself and his girlfriend. The Judge said 164 plant pots of cannabis, 637 g of cannabis plant and about 2000 seeds found at McCaw’s home suggested that McCaw was a wellorganised, sophisticated grower and dealer in cannabis.
