PA Nelson A multiple sclerosis sufferer, Mrs Betty Flynn, of Wellington, is still walking a month after receiving diving j, chamber i oxygen treatment at Nelson. • ■ Mrs Flynn said yesterday , that she had arrived at'the; airport on .Thursday add walked across the tarmac to her; 'waiting' car for top-iip treatment at Mr Maurice ivory’s chamber at Appleby. “I could not ' have done that a couple , of months ago,” she said. . ' Before receiving the initial treatment, Mrs Flynn was unable to walk and used an electric scooter. She rejected criticism last week by the field officer of the Nelson Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mr Vic Stevens, who said the treatments resulted ,in superficial responses which did not appear to last. Mrs Flynn said she decided on the top-up treatment as it was “better to be sure than sorry.” Time would tell if this treatment helped her, she said. After the first 20 days of treatment she felt the best she had for years. “As far as I am concerned, I had to ask Maurice if he would do the treatment for me. I have a physical disability, but no mental disability. • "If I am prepared to spend my money that way, so be it. It is my prerogative.”
