Philips to ride in NX horse trial
PA Auckland Captain Mark Phillips is to ride in the invitation horse trial at Pukekohe on November 17 and 18. Captain Phillips will replace Lucinda Green in the British team for the event, in which teams will compete in dressage, a crosscountry and show jumping. Mrs Green withdrew from the event after becoming pregnant. Prue O’Neill, who works for the sponsor, American Express, said she had confirmed Captain Phillips would compete when she spoke to him in Melbourne on Friday night. “He said he would be
very pleased to ride and is looking forward to it. “He" obviously asked about the horses he would ride — all the things any rider would want to know,” Ms O’Neill said. Ms O’Neill, said she hoped Mrs Green would take over providing a commentary on the event from Captain Phillips. Captain Phillips was due to arrive in New Zealand on November 14. After the horse trial, he will take riding clinics in the Waikato, Fielding, Taupo and Christchurch before returning to Britain on November 27.
