Jayell’s Pride was scratched yesterday for the New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas, so tomorrow’s classic will not have a female contestant. Jayell’s Pride, which finished fifth in the Wrightson One Thousand Guineas, will be flown back to the North Island tomorrow along with Avana, the runner-up to Canterbury Belle in Saturday’s $lOO,OOO race. Scratchings for Two Thousand Guineas day at Riccarton are:— Port Cooper Highweight: Smokey Topaz, Wat O Sue. Graduation Maiden: Ebony Lace. Apprentices’ Handicap: String Fantasy. Broomfield Maiden: Realite. Ashley Handicap: Hazearay. Two Thousand Guineas: Jayell’s Pride. Member’s Handicap: Lord Of The Dance. The Ellesmere: Jack’s Lad.
