Award to Ernader

Ernader, dam of McGinty, has won the 1984 Broodmare of the Year Award. McGinty won four races during the 1983-84 season, including the Rawson Stakes, the Air New Zealand Stakes, and the Caulfield Stakes, and finished second in the A.J.C. George Main Stakes, and the V.R.C. Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He also ran an eye-catch-ing race for fifth in the Japan Cup. Ernader, a smart sprinter herself, was bred in 1969 by Serenader n from Chystal Bar, by Great Tradition. The award was judged by Mr Bernie Neazor, keeper of the New Zealand Stud Book, Miss Pat O’Brien, pedigrees supervisor, and Wrightson Bloodstock, in conjunction with the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Council.
