Queenstown water gets clearance

PA Invercargill Queenstown’s water supply, which was contaminated by raw sewage, has been cleared by health authorities.

A Lake County Council ' health inspector, Mr M.N. Walker, said yesterday that the water supply was checked on Saturday afternoon and residents were advised they would no longer have to boil drinking water.

A raw sewage leak into the town’s water supply, which caused hundreds of cases of gastro-enteritis, was discovered on Thursday. The water was immediately chlorinated and. people warned to boil it before use.
