Complaint of assault with baton
C A young solo mother who appeared in the District Court yesterday charged with assaulting two police constables has complained to the police that one of the constables assaulted her with a baton. Karinya Kristen Harris, aged 22, sported a black eye when she appeared in court yesterday. She did not plead to the assault charges, and was remanded at large to December 4 for a fixture.
Her complaint was filed at the Christchurch Central Police Station yesterday by her lawyer, Mr Jock Hobbs. The complaint and assault charges relate to an incident at a Halswell Road house on Thursday.
