Applications close on December 5, 1984. /Prince Henrys\ (' Hospital ■ St. Kilda Road, Melbourne, 3004, invites applications from suitably qualified Diagnostic Radiologists for appointment as: Staff Radiologist Prince Henry’s'Hospital is a 407-bed hospital affiliated with Monash University; and houses the Professional Units in Medicine, Surgery and Psychological Medicine. It is actively engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. It functions as a specialist referral hospital for medical and surgical disciplines, including Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Neurosurgery. The Diagnostic Radiology Department undertakes some 40,000 medical imagings per year. The Department has a staff establishment of four qualified radiologists and four registrars in training. Visiting radiologists attend for four sessions per week. Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound constitute a separate department but there is close liaison with Diagnostic Radiology. Radiology staff provide some assistance with the workload in Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. The appointee will be required to participate in the routine work of the department and to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He or she will also be encouraged to specialize in a branch of Radiology and to represent the department in the regular clinicoradiological conferences in that specialty. The present C.T. head scanner will be replaced with a body scanner, probably within the next twelve months. Digital subtraction angiographic equipment has been approved and will be acquired in the near future. The appointee will have the opportunity of assisting in the introduction and development of this new technology. Prince Henry's is close to the centre of Melbourne. It is adjacent to the new arts complex and immediately opposite one of the city’s major public gardens. It is conveniently located in relation to good residential suburbs. Economy air fares and a grant towards removal expenses will be provided to the appointee. The appointment is initially for two years, with subsequent extension by mutual arrangement. Salary and associated conditions of service are as prescribed by the Hospital Senior Medical Officers Determination. Currently the salary range is $A795.40 to $A1,058.10 per week according to qualifications and years of experience in the specialty, plus an additional 10% on-call allowance. There are also entitlements to sabbatical leave and study leave. The successful applicant could expect to be granted the right of limited private practice, which, if granted, will augment the base salary by 25%.
