Exchange index
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand exchange rate index stood at 62.7 at the end of October, unchanged from the previous month. The index, which measures the value of the New Zealand dollar in terms of a basket of currencies of New Zealand’s main trading partners, had a base of 100.0 at the end of June, 1979. The index was reduced substantially because of the devaluation in July, but has stood at 62.7 since August. The New Zealand dollar has been devalued 37.3 per cent since the index was established in June, 1979.
