The Greta Valley homestead and 31 hectare property of Sir Robin Campbell was passed in at auction for $265,000 on October 26. The property, with a 1984 Government valuation, of $lBO,OOO, is now under private negotiation according to Mr Tim Templeton, of Matson and Allan Real Estate. The homestead, which has been in Sir Robin’s family for five generations, was designed by Heathcote Belmore. The spacious home is surrounded by mature English and native trees in a setting of considerable beauty. As well as the house is a detached station cottage, in perfect condition, ■ of hostoric value. swimming pool, a large workshop, and cattle yards. .Four properties on Somerfield and Colombo streets in Beckenham, including a panel paint shop and car-parking yard, two brick flats and an old homestead, were passed in at auction on October 25. Two other properties, two self-contained flats and a service station, originally offered for auction in the same lot, were sold by prior treaty. The auctioneer was Mr Colin Smith of Smiths City Market.
Although the reserve prices were not reached, there was spirited bidding amongst the 60 or so people at the auction.
