Rainfall below average
PA Wellington Rainfall in most areas of New Zealand . last month was between only 10 and 30 per cent of the monthly average according to the Weather Office in Wellington yesterday. The weather office said that October’s weather was
generally very dry while temperatures were about average. Manawatu, Horowhenua, and Wellington received 70 per cent of average rainfall while the West Coast and South Island high country had between one and a half and two times the average. .
While afternoon temperatures throughout New Zealand were slightly warmer than average, morning temperatures were generally almost half a degree cooler than average. So far this year the overall New Zealand temperatures have been o.4deg. above average.
