Bramco, Kupe actively traded

Big turnovers in Bramco Properties and Kupe Petroleum options were the highlights of an otherwise steady New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. More than 1.4 million Bramco shares were traded as a mystery buyer stepped in seeking up to 74 per cent of the Hastings property company’s capital at 75c a share. About 270,000 units traded at the bid price, but 1,120,000 shares in special sales changed hands at 85c and 90c. Nearly IM Kupe options traded at a steady 6c. The Barclays industrial index eased 1.05 points to 1238.91, although rises outnumbered falls 43 to 32. NZI Corporation firmed 1c to 163 c in busy trading, and New Zealand Steel was up 1c on its improved result. Brierley, Fletcher Challenge, and Yates eased. The ANZ Banking Group was steady at 370 c, having gained 45c before Wednesday’s 10c loss. New Zealand Salmon was prominent on a 15c gain, and John Burns was ahead 30c after going ex bonus.
