‘Children need parents’ group?
PA Auckland A “children need parents” group should be formed to balance the “rash of pressure and protective groups” that separated parents set up for themselves, says a Dunedin lawyer. Mr Bruce Robertson was giving the Peter Lewis memorial lecture at the Plunket Society’s biennial conference in Auckland yesterday. He said parents’ groups “all too often become forums for mutual handwringing. Too much emphasis has been on the plight of. the parents and their feelings of deprivation. Many such vocal parents need to face themselves and their own responsibility for the mess they are in.” Mr Robertson urged everyone involved in separation, divorce, and cus-. tody cases always to put the interests and well-being of children first.
