Bases opposed
An overwhelming majority in Spain is opposed to the presence of United States military bases, and 52 per cent, want to pull out of N.AT.O., according to the results of an opinion poll Of 2500 people questioned, 70 per cent were opposed to the four existing American bases. Twelve per cent were in favour and the rest were undecided. Spain’s continued NAT.O. membership, which is to be put to a referendum early in 1986, was favoured by 19 per cent, while the others had no opinion. — Madrid.
