Easy access to efficient, attractive display area

Odlins Decorating has moved from its Tuam Street store to bright, new premises at 569 Colombo Street, which opened at the beginning of this week. Situated next to Noel Leeming’s Trade-In Bar, the attractive and efficient, 280 ! sq m display area is more easily accessible for the passing public traffic of Colombo Street. The store, which has a staff of 12 experienced specialists, stocks a wide range of paints, wallpaper and acrylic sheeting.- The new trading hours are: Monday to Thursday, 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.; Friday, 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Odlins Decorating changed its name last March from Tingeys, Ltd, which had already been a member of the Odlin group for the last 10 years. Tingeys was first established in Canterbury in 1869 and grew to become a

national company with branches in all the main centres throughout New Zealand. Odlins Decorating now stocks the major paint brands, including Dulux, Taubmans and the Wattyl range. The Wattyl range of outside finishes includes Solagard low sheen and gloss, fence finish, Forestwood natural-finish oil stain, gar-den-furniture finish, decking finish, and Estapol exterior clear timber finish. For windows, doors and weatherboards, the ideal “painted” finish is the Solagard low sheen or gloss. No primer is required, except for white tones (White, Mediterranean White and Colonial Cream) on new timber. However, if you want a see-through finish which colours but does not hide the grain of the timber, use Forestwood. For a high-gloss, long-life clear finish for outside

timber, use Estapol exterior clear timber finish. At the new store, basic colour schemes are explained in simple, concise terms, and advice is given on how to heighten a small room, make a room look larger, or cosier, or a cluttered room look more spacious. The essential elements of texture and pattern are dealt with, as well as the elements of design which give that all-important balance and harmony to a room.

Once you have choosen your colour scheme, the next step is selecting the right type of paint for each particular area, and Odlins Decorating offers you the benefit of their staff members’ professional knowledge.

Odlins Decorating also stocks a range of Harmony paints and painting accessories which are specially manufactured for the firm,

and which are exclusive to Odlins stores. The Harmony texturecoat, ready-mixed acrylic plaster, is a one-coat application for all porous, exterior and interior surfaces. Texture coat can be applied to concrete, bricks, concrete blocks, cellulose-fibre cement sheets, plywood, Gib-board and Woodtex. In the field of wallpapers, Odlins Decorating also car-

ries all the top brand names. With their easy-hang, easy-care properties, vinyl wallpapers are becoming increasingly popular among today’s home decorators. The vinyl wallpapers are ready pasted, making them very easy to hang and, being completely grease resistant, they are ideal for any room in your home.

Because they are dry-peel-able, they are also easy to strip when you decide to redecorate. If you have any difficulty in selecting wallpapers from any of the extensive display and sample books, the firm’s expert staff will be happy to give you any assistance and advice you may need in making that final decision.
