NZPA-AAP Sydney One of the richest hdle-in-one prizes will be on offer in next week’s Australian P.G.A. championship at the Monash Country Club. Toshiba, sponsor of the $150,000 event, is putting up $lOO,OOO for the first golfer scoring a hole-in-one at the 197-metre 14th hole during the final two days of the tournament If there is no ace at that hole a package of the sponsor’s’
products, will be awarded to the player who finishes nearest to the pin at the 14th over the last two days. Last weekend the New Zealander Barry Vivian won a car for holing-in-one at the 9th hole in the second round of the N.S.W. Open at the Lakes. Vivian’s feat was outside the designated final two days but the sponsor Mitsubishi relented after the field passed through the hole on Sunday’s final day and presented the car, worth $lO,OOO, to the New Zealander.
