British diet changes
Health-conscious Britons
are cutting down on dairy products, sugar, and red meat — the foods that experts say can lead to heart disease. Instead they are buying more skimmed milk, wholemeal bread, poultry, and fresh fruit Each person now eats an average 6.8 slices of brown or wholemeal bread every week, the most since the 19505, says the Government’s national food survey for April to June. Sales of skimmed milk have more than trebled since the same time last year. Figures for full cream milk, butter, margarine, and' eggs are down—London.
