Fuel mix tests
The Soviet Union has begun testing the use of a hydrogen and petrol mix for motor vehicles. Experts believe it will be used by all cars and trucks in the - next century, a Moscow newspaper reports. The trade union daily, “Trud,” said the chief advantages of the fuel mix were that it drastically cut back pollution from exhausts and greatly increased economy levels. The presence of the hydrogen, , which made up 10 to 15 per cent of the mix, ensured that all the petrol was burned up in the engine and there was no waste. Taxis had been running on the fuel mix in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov for the last three years and scientists were pleased with the results.—Moscow..
