Bowls field full
The field is full for the Christchurch tournament in the national Countrywide bowls singles series in December. Last year it took a long time to get the 128 players required, but the Christchurch centre secretary, Mrs Pat Ambrose, said yesterday that the field had been full for some weeks, and she had a waiting list of nearly 30 with entries still being made. Quite a few of the entries were from outside of Christchurch, said Mrs Ambrose. The Christchurch tournament will carry prize money of $l5OO, but for the winner there is automatic entry to the |50,000 International Classic singles in Christchurch in February. The winner of this event can expect to collect around $17,000.
