Hawarden rider has jumping win

The Hawarden rider, Mark Crean, and Edward Ensor,' from Blenheim, triumphed in the two A grade events during the first day of the Labour Week-end jumping show run by the Canterbury area of the New Zealand Horse Society at McLeans Island yesterday. Crean guided Missouri to victory in the table A2 jump, beating Samuel (Julie Srhoy, Ashburton), Golan Heights (lan Bell, Rakaia) and Countdown, Ensor’s mount However, Countdown prevailed in the AM3 jump, with Samuel again runner-up, Missouri third and Golan Heights fourth. Srhoy also enjoyed success with her B grade horse, Silamond, winning one event and finishing second in the other to Brian Costello and Merry Orbit Crean, Srhoy, Bell, Ensor and Costello all have horses entered in the A and B grade championship, the feature event on today’s programme. Three ponies dominated the A grade competition. Leah Meares collected a first and a third placing with each of her two charges, Coco and Barnicle Bill, with Cascade (Helen Pain) runner-up in both competitions.
