New property company
A big new real estate company will open in Christchurch on Monday.
Leaders Real Estate, Ltd, is the result of the amalgamation of St Albans Real Estate and Real Estate and Finance.
Ten branches throughout the South Island are being established, with the head office in Montreal Street, just north of Victoria Street.
Eight branches in Christchurch will employ all the employees of the two companies involved in the amalgamation. An office in Dunedin employing eight people brings the total number of, staff to 60.
The company said yesterday that it hoped to employ between 125 and 150 sales people in Christchurch, and about 1500 sales and other staff throughout New Zealand.
Staff training, home financing, and insurance services are some of the proposed features of the new company, claimed to be the biggest in the South Island. The company also plans to open a training school with a roll of up to 50 cadets as part of its plan to improve the image of real estate sales people. The real estate business is a subsidiary of the New Zealand-owned development
organisation, Leaders Group, which intends to enter the Stock Exchange within about nine months, offering a first share issue worth $5O million. The total capital is expected to be
$250 million. The organisation was the idea of a Russian-born property developer, Mr Ivan Kwasza, managing director of the Leaders Group. On the board of management of Leaders Real Estate are Messrs Dennis Warner (licensee) David Dickson (general manager), John Langley, and Jacob Schriek, and Mrs Paddy Rapley (public relations officer).
