“Comeback,” which will start at the Cinerama tomorrow, is a modern love story for which .inspiration was found in news articles which appeared simultaneously in “Newsweek” and “Time” on June 12, 1978. It is the story of an Australian photojournalist, John Everingham, who rescues an Asian woman, Keo Sirisomphone, across the swirling Mekong River from Laos to Thailand in full
view of Patbet Lao soldiers, in a country torn by war and tyranny. The film stars Michael Landon as Everingham, and introduces the beautiful Indonesian actress-model, Moira Chen Keo. Edward Woodward, who was last seen in "Breaker Morant,” plays Derek, who trains Everingham for his daring rescue; Priscilla Presley is his assistant; and Jurgen (“The Boat”) Pro-
chnow is head of the Pathet Lao secret police who imprison Everingham and cause his exile. Today, Everingham and his wife, Keo, have a small child, and run a restaurant in Bangkok, amid a deceptive tranquility considering the plight of the Laotian people, many of whom have been forced to flee their country by boat. This topical film was shot on location in Thailand,
with additional underwater footage in the Bahamas.
