Krypton tapes on sale

The first in a series of C--20 Krypton Hits tapes go on sale in some Christchurch record shops today. The tape features five bands — The McGoohans, Ritchie Venus and the Blue Beetles, The Oxes, Campbell and Um, and Room To Scream. This is the third in the series of cassette tapes featuring local bands, although the previous two, including the “Nightshift Compilation,” were C-120 tapes featuring 20 bands. Now, however, it has been decided to restrict the tapes to only a few songs at a time. In the case of the McGoohans, it is hot off the press, as the song, “Arson,” was only recorded last week.

The price of the tape varies between $4.50 and $5.50 depending on where you shop. “Krypton Hits” is available at the EMI Record shops, Planet Records, Echo Records, and Radar Records. The tracks were also recorded in a variety of places, some of them taken live.
