“Threads”
Sir,—On Sunday I watched the outstanding docu-drama “Threads.” On Monday morning, listening to people telephone a local talk-back show, I was saddened by their hopelessness and acceptance of the inevitability of nuclear war. After watching “Threads” I am angry and not . prepared to accept hopelessness any more. I have three children and I did not bring them into this world to be annihilated by some idiots playing power games; I realise now it is not enough for the Government to say “O.K. world, we’re nuclear-free.” The people have to be behind the Government all the way. We have the opportunity to lead and possibly change world opinion on nuclear war. I urge others to be angry, not hopeless, to stand up and say “enough.” I urge the peace groups to advertise their existence so more people can get in touch with them.—Yours, etc., NICK HARNETT.
