LABORATORY TECHNICIANS . New Zealand Synthetic Fuels Corporation, a joint venture between the New Zealand Government and Mobil, is constructing a plant at Motunui, near New Plymouth, which will convert natural gas to petrol via a methanol stage, to provide one-third of New. Zealand's expected petrol requirements in 1986. Applicants are now invited for several positions as Laboratory Technicians. Appointments will be made at varying levels of responsibility. The successful applicants will carry out chemical and physical analyses of process samples to provide information for the safe and efficient operation of a high technology process plant. Initial duties will also involve assisting other-laboratory staff in setting up laboratory equipment and testing procedures. As a minimum qualification, applicants should have completed, or almost completed, the N.Z.C.S. As emphasis is placed on chemical analysis skills, a good background in chemistry is essential. Some knowledge of microbiology may also be beneficial. Familiarity with GLC, AAS and other instrumental analytical methods would be of advantage. Successful applicants who have not completed studies to a || formal qualification will be encouraged to do so by the H Corporation.
