Mr Trotter to lead Clyde dam committee

PA Dunedin The committee to investigate Government sector industrial relations on the Clyde dam will be chaired by Mr E. L. Trotter, a former director of industrial relations with the State Services Commission. Other members are Mr M.L Meads, a life member of the Workers’ Union, and Mr F.G. Newland, project administration officer in the Ministry of Works and Development’s project at Ohaaki. The Minister of Works, Mr Colman, announced the formation of the committee on Tuesday. Details of it were announced yesterday by Commissioner of Works, Mr R. G. Norman. Terms of reference are:

® To report on industrial relations between the Ministry of Works project management and the Workers’ Union.

• To consider the ade2uacy of systems, proceures, and communications to deal with industrial problems.

• To evaluate complaints about these systems, procedures, and communications. • To make recommendations to the Commissioner of Works on changes it feels should be made, or aspects which need investigation to improve industrial relations. Mr Norman said that he was confident the committee would review the project objectively. “I expect it to report to me soon,” he said.
