Change of luck for N.Z. rider
PA Palmerston North The Feilding rider, Andrew Scott, had a change of luck yesterday when he finished second on Just Henry in one of the major English one-day horse trials at Tetbury. Scott, after the disappointment of being named only as a non-travelling reserve for the Los Angeles Olympics, had a further setback recently when he had to bypass the prestigious three-day event at Burghley because of a leg infection to Just Henry. But almost everything went according to plan at Tetbury in an advanced division of 75 competitors,
which included the Badminton champion, Lucinda Green, and Captain Mark Phillips. Scott and Just Henry, who have trained recently with a top British dressage coach, David Hunt, and who won an elementary class at a dressage tournament a week earlier, started well with the third-best dressage score of 27.
After that the big chestnut turned in a brilliant round to go clear over a big cross-country course and, though he dropped one rail in the show-jumping phase, he held second. The event was won by a leading British rider, Sue Benson.
