Public Trustee appointed
PA Wellington Mr William Hawkins has been appointed Public Trustee to succeed Mr Norman Currie, who will retire in December, the State Services Commission has announced. Mr ! Hawkins was recruited from the United Kingdom to be a legal clerk in the Auckland office of the Public Trust in 1955. He served as district solicitor in the Timaru, Palmerston North, and Hamilton offices before being appointed solicitor at head office.
Mr Hawkins was appointed office solicitor in January, 1979, and Assistant Public Trustee in December, 1980.
