Riccarton office permit granted
A building permit had been issued for a warehouse and office block in Riccarton which was earlier the subject of objections by neighbouring residents.
Michael Stratford Developments applied to build the complex at 6 Burdale Street. Eight objections all related to the proposed reduction in the landscape strip from six metres to three metres. The residents said they thought the building of Mr Stratford’s complex in a buffer zone between industrial and resi-
dential areas would reduce the value of their properties as well as increase noise and traffic flow in the area. Mr Stratford said last evening that the council had decided he should keep to the six metres landscaping strip, which he had done by narrowing the front unit of his development. Work had already begun on dismantling the old house which was already on the site, he said. The Ferrymead Trust was removing the house in return for any fittings it could salvage.
