Closing of hospital sought
PA Auckland Residents living close to Oakley Hospital have called a public meeting for Sunday to demand the hospital be closed. A spokeswoman said they wanted it closed within a year.

should not be in a residential area with young families, she said. The meeting would be open to all Aucklanders. “Oakley is everyone’s problem,” the spokeswoman said.
She said the Police Minister, Mrs. Hercus, the Mayor of Auckland, Mrs Cath Tizard, and the Auckland Hospital Board’s chairman, Dr Frank Rutter, would be invited to address the meeting.
