Officers black-marked

PA Auckland • Two Auckland City Council traffic officers who crashed into each other have been “black-marked” by an internal inquiry. Their cars collided at an intersection on June 2 as they pursued a motor-cycle. One driver was concussed and both cars had to be towed away. The council’s superintend-

ent of traffic, Mr Jim Neilsen, said disciplinary action had been taken against both officers. They would continue in 'their jobs but if they made a similar mistake their jobs would be “very seriously jeopardised,” he said. Neither had lived- up to the high standards expected of them, he said. “It was a very serious black mark.”
