100 study for doctorates

One hundred doctorate students were among the 1740 students enrolled at Lincoln College this year, the acting principal, Professor R. H. M. Langer, told a College Council meeting yesterday. They were among the 299 post-graduate students, many of them from overseas, at the college. The percentage of overseas students was slightly down on other years, Professor Langer

said. “Some years ago the college established the principle that overseas students should make up 10 per cent of the roll, and represent as many countries as possible,” he said. Thirty-five countries were represented this year. The college now had 545 first-year students, and 453 women students — about the same number as last year. The total roll was slightly up on last year.
