Spring bike ride to Corsair Bay

The end of winter will be celebrated on Sunday with the annual “Spring Cycle,” organised by the Canterbury Cyclists’ Association. Members of the public are welcome to join the ride, which will leave from Victoria Square at 10 a.m. The destination is Corsair Bay, via the Lyttelton road tunnel. A picnic lunch is planned at the bay before returning to the city via the tunnel. People living in the eastern areas of Christchurch may join the ride at Ferrymead Park at 10.15 a.m. Contrary to an earlier report in “The Press,” the trip will not be a race but an easy fun ride, open to anyone. The Lyttelton tunnel will be closed from 11 a.m. until 11.10 a.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 2.45 p.m. on Sunday for the ride. Zsy postponement will be broadcast on radio 3ZB.
