Plunket help wanted

PA Wellington Mothers who have difficulty getting their twins or triplets to the Plunket rooms will be able to have home visits by the Plunket nurse if the Multiple Births Association has its way. The association’s annual meeting at Heretaunga decided to ask the Plunket Society to arrange for visits to mothers with more than one baby.

The association will also ask the Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs Hercus, to financially help multiple birth parents by extending the scope of advance payments of family benefits. Because it was so expensive for these families to buy substantial items for their babies, the department should allow greater flexibility in the system, said a spokesman for the association.
