Charges of attempted murder

PA Timaru Two youths charged with attempted murder were remanded in custody without plea when they appeared briefly in the District Court at Timaru yesterday. Colin Albert Beran, aged 19, an unemployed labourer, of Timaru, was declined interim suppression of name by Mr Robert White, Justice of the Peace. Beran is charged with the attempted murder of Colin Howison, aged 23, as a result of a stabbing on August 19. He was remanded to appear on September 3. An unemployed youth, aged 18, charged with the attempted murder of a theatre manager, Gavin List, last Friday, was remanded to appear again this morning for a psychiatric report. The Court allowed interim suppression of the youth’s name.
