Bowls breakthrough

A stalwart of the Richmond Working Men’s Clubb, Morrie Clemens, won his first champion of champions indoor bowls title recently when he took the Canterbury W.M.C. singles championship, at the Kaiapoi W.M.C. Clemens, who, before this season, had never won his club singles title, played steady bowls throughout. His opponent in the final, Brian Stewart

(Woolston W.M.C.), also played many good draw bowls, but Clemens had his measure in a fine final. Results:-Quarter-finals.- L. Bellis 9, E. Chaney 5; M. Clemens 14, G. Eder 5; D. White 10, S. Clark 5, B. Stewart 9, M. Mardon 4. Semi-finals.- Clemens 13, Bellis 5; Stewart 11, White 7. Final. Clemens 12, Stewart 9.
