Benefit numbers rise
PA Wellington Nearly 44,000 people were receiving the unemployment benefit at August 17, according to the Social Welfare Department. A total of 43,904 people, 30,088 men and 13,816
women were being paid the benefit. Of those, 5727 men and 5734 women were aged under 20. The number of unemployment beneficiaries at August 3 was 43,424. Of those, 5767 men and 5902 women were under 20 years.
