First win in table tennis
A 7-4 victory against Manawatu in the third round gave Canterbury its first win in the women’s A grade team’s table tennis championships in Palmerston North yesterday. The Canterbury men, who were relegated from the Kean Shield (A grade) last year, have made an excellent start to gain promotion, winning all three matches to date. Results:— Men A Grade.—Round 1: North Shore 8, Northland 3; Franklin 11, Hamilton 0; Auckland 9, Hutt Valley 2. Round 2: Franklin 6, Northland 2; Auckland 9, Hamilton 2; North Shore 7, Hutt Valley 4.
