Quick action in court

PA Auckland A police sergeant and a woman constable worked for 15 minutes to revive a young man who collapsed unconscious while waiting to appear in the District Court at Otahuhu on Friday. Otahuhu’s chief traffic officer, Mr Ernest Seath, who saw the incident in No. 1 courtroom, said that Sergeant David Boylan and Constable Mary Wilson probably saved the man’s life. “They were incredible,” Mr Seath said.

“This man was sitting in the back of the room and suddenly collapsed. Dave and Mary jumped straight in, laid him out on the floor and started resuscitation. “Dave gave him mouth-to-mouth and Mary gave, cardiac massage.” By the time a doctor arrived the two officers had brought the young man round and he was taken to Middlemore Hospital by ambulance. It is believed he was to appear before the Court on three charges of false pretence.
