Symphony software
The much-heralded Symphony software package, from the company that developed Lotus 1-2-3, has now arrived in New Zealand. Symphony combines word processing, communications, database management spreadsheet and graphics in one package. Its word processing, communications and database management features make it a more
versatile package than Lotus 1-2-3. At $1662, Symphony is $602 more expensive than Lotus 1-2-3. Lotus 1-2-3 will continue to be sold for users who do not need all the features of Symphony. A Lotus 1-2-3 owner can upgrade to Symphony for a cost of $5OO, up until the end of October. Similarly new customers can purchase
Lotus 1-2-3 and, if it does not meet their needs, upgrade to Symphony for $5OO. As well as the extra features, Symphony adds windowing management as an enhancement of the integration features of Lotus 1-2-3. Two or more windows can be displayed on the screen, showing different parts of the user’s workspace.
